Community Guidelines

Version 1.1 (revised 25 September 2026), effective from the date this version is published.

Community posts, comments and shared stacks help others build better habits, so keep them useful and safe. Do not post or share anything that:

  1. belongs to someone else and that you have no right to share;
  2. is obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, or invades anyone’s privacy, including bodily privacy;
  3. is harmful to children;
  4. insults or harasses anyone on the basis of gender, religion, caste, race, ethnicity or anything else, or is racially or ethnically objectionable;
  5. promotes enmity between groups on the basis of religion or caste with intent to incite violence, or encourages violence or self-harm;
  6. relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling;
  7. promotes dangerous or illegal activity, for example extreme fasting, steroid use or drugs;
  8. infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right, for example by pasting chunks of a book;
  9. misleads anyone about where a message came from, or knowingly spreads information that is patently false, untrue or misleading, including fake health claims;
  10. impersonates another person, or includes someone’s personal data such as phone numbers or emails;
  11. is AI-generated or altered content that could pass as real and falsely shows a real person or event;
  12. threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, incites any cognisable offence, prevents the investigation of any offence, or insults any other nation;
  13. contains a virus or any other code, file or program designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functioning of any computer resource;
  14. is an online game that harms users, an online money game or any other online game Indian law does not permit, or advertises or promotes one (including surrogate advertising);
  15. breaks any law in force in India.

What happens if you break these rules. We may remove the post, comment or stack, restrict posting and sharing, or suspend or close your account at once. Posting or sharing unlawful content can make you liable to penalties or punishment under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other laws. Where the law requires an offence to be reported, for example under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 or the POCSO Act, 2012, we will report it to the authorities. We keep content we remove, and the records about it, for 1 year (longer if a court or government agency asks). This meets Rule 3(1)(g) of the IT Rules (at least 180 days) and the DPDP Rules (one year, from 13 May 2027).

Reporting a post, reply or stack. Use the “Report” button on any post, reply or stack and choose a reason, or email our Grievance Officer at anirudhmuhnot@icloud.com. Every report gets a ticket number, and we email you our decision. We acknowledge reports within 24 hours. Content showing a person’s private parts, nudity or a sexual act, or impersonating a real person (including morphed, edited or AI-made images of them), is removed within 2 hours of a complaint by that person or someone acting for them. Harassment, other unlawful content and posts that share someone’s personal details are acted on within 36 hours, and other complaints, such as spam, are decided within 7 days. Court orders and government notices are acted on within 3 hours. If you disagree with our Grievance Officer’s decision, or don’t get one within these times, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee (gac.gov.in) within 30 days of receiving our decision.

Child sexual abuse material and intimate images. When someone reports sexual content involving a child, or nudity or sexual content of a real person shared without their consent (including morphed or AI-made images), we hide it at once and move any attached files out of public view while we act on the report. We remove child sexual abuse material at once, report it to the police through cybercrime.gov.in, and keep the uploader’s account details for them, as the POCSO Rules 2020 require. If you come across such material, please don’t download or share it: report it here, or at cybercrime.gov.in or on 1930.

Reminders. We remind you of these rules at least once every three months, by email and in the app.
